Merz Trio presents “Quiet Cities,” a uniquely varied and enchanting program, each segment an evocation of its own private world. From the dreamlike fantasy of Cheryl Frances-Hoad to the storm and stress of Haydn's E Minor Trio, from the expressive vision of Berg to the spiritual ecstasy of Hildegard, the works invite you to linger and savor each of these worlds in turn. The program ends with Brahms' magnificent B Major Trio, paired with Schumann's beloved 'Widmung:' two well familiar works that nonetheless capture perfectly the imaginative fantasy that pervades the rest of the program.
