Merz Trio Wins Gold at 2019 Fischoff Competition
We are honored and humbled to have been awarded the Gold Medal in the Senior Strings Division of the 2019 Fischoff Chamber Music Association Competition. During the Fischoff, we had the privilege of playing — day after day — some of the most incredible movements in our repertoire… in an almost identical, 20-minute format. Each day, an almost identical program, and with it, the responsibility to continue living this amazing music (Schubert B-flat Trio, Ravel Trio, and Johannes Maria Staud’s 10 Miniatures) in as joyous and passionate of a way as we could. The experience was uniquely exhilarating as well as exhausting, yet we are so grateful to have had the opportunity it afforded us to hone our playing and to grow in this way.
